HOW TO: SPARKLE DESKTOP ORGANIZER
Spruce up the look of your desk and inspire some creativity with this fun sparkle organizer. This colourful desktop accessory is easy to recreate and works as a great alternative to expensive store bought versions. You can even customize the look by selecting colours that reflect your room's unique décor.

Pencil
Ruler
Hot glue gun
Thin cardboard or heavy stock construction paper
HOW TO:
Begin by cutting all your required cardboard pieces. You’ll need….
4 pieces at 4 ¼” x 4 ¼” (Sides of pencil box)
2 pieces at 4 ¼” x 4 ½” (Bottom of pencil box and note pad holder)
2 pieces at 11” x 4 ¼” (Base and Back of file holder)
1 piece at 11” x 3 ¼” (Divider)
1 piece at 11” x 2 ¼” (Front of file holder)
Then begin to assemble the pieces using your hot glue gun to hold them in place. Start with the Base and add the front, the back and then the divider piece. Make sure to use your ruler to measure and mark the middle of the base so the dividers are equal width apart. From there you can attach the note holder to the right-hand side.
Note: there is an extra ¼” on both the note holder piece and the pencil box base. Measure and mark the quarter inch. This is to create a “lip” effect so you can glue and place the extra piece under the base of the divider.
To finish, attach the base of the pencil box to the left side placing the extra ¼” lip under the base of the divider. Then you can attach all four sides. Lastly, be sure to secure the dividers against the pencil holder with hot glue.
Once you have assembled the organizer now you can have fun decorating it with Scotch washi tape.
Start by wrapping the note holder placing the tape vertically until it is covered.
pro tip: make sure to each an inch extra on at the top and bottom to wrap around and secure in place
Next, you can begin to cover the front end of the organizer. Start on the right side and pull the tape across horizontally and around the pencil box. Work your way from bottom to top. Use your scissors to cut a clean edge.
Using your Scotch Expressions™ Glitter Tape, Hot Pink Glitter begin to cover the Divider from bottom to top.
Then repeat steps and cover the final back piece of the file holder using your Scotch Expressions™ Glitter Tape, Bright Violet Glitter.
To finish make sure there is no cardboard left uncovered and take your Scotch Expressions™ Glitter Tape, Bright Violet Glitter and place the tape width wise across the front (from right to left) from the outside or the file holder and around the pencil box.
Lastly, grab a stack of Post It Notes and apply a generous coat of Scotch Adhesive Dot Roller
to the back page and place in the middle of the note pad holder square (to the right of the file holder).
To Finish, again using the Scotch Adhesive Dot Roller apply a coat to the back of your three favourite Post It Flag colours and stick them to the front of the pencil box horizontally.
